CESNET conference to be held in Prague on 29 and 30 January

Prague, 23 January 2019 The CESNET Association will present a overview of its services and the news from its own research in the form of lectures and practical presentations at the two-day CESNET e-infrastructure conference. The conference will take place on 29 and 30 January in the Czech Technical University in Prague.

In addition to talks by CESNET specialists, the conference will also include presentations from significant international guests and also from several representatives of the user community. First day of the event will be streamed online at event’s website.

‘At the conference we would not present only our activities. Conference is also a platform for discussion about the major trends that are currently shaping our field. With more than 350 registered participants it is at the same time the largest meeting of our user community,’ says the Director of the CESNET Association Jan Gruntorád.

The morning section on the first day of the conference will be opened by Lukáš Levák, Director of the Department of Research and Development, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. Afterwards, Mr Gruntorád will present the current form of the CESNET e-infrastructure and will outline its future development. Andreas Dudler, Managing Director of the Swiss national e-infrastructure Switch, will talk about the significance of national networks for science and research; and Erik-Jan Bos, Policy and Strategy Officer at NORDUnet, the association of National Research and Education Networks of the Nordic countries of Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, and Iceland, will discuss the benefits of international network cooperation.

During the afternoon programme of the first day, CESNET Association specialists will present to the audience plans for the future of individual areas: networking, processing and storing of big scientific data, digital identities, security, and multimedia.

The second day of the conference will be dedicated to expert topics such as future plans of the CESNET3 network, trends in processing and storing big  scientific data, tools for the protection of users and networks, development of a software-defined networks, systems for managing user identities, current issues with eIDAS, multimedia, and the Internet of Things. Guests will have the opportunity to inspect technical demos, attend several workshops, and take in the SageLab laboratory.
