Deputy Minister Pavel Doleček opened the Czech-German Scientific Conference in Brno

Brno, 16th May 2019 – Deputy Minister for Higher Education, Science and Research at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports Pavel Doleček opened the Czech-German Scientific Conference on Nanotechnologies and Advanced Materials, held on 16th and 17th May 2019 in the premises of the Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC) in Brno.

The conference has been arranged under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic (MEYS) and Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany (BMBF) in the framework of Strategy Dialogue developed by the Governments of both countries. The conference provides 150 participants from research sector and business area with the platform to debate further enhancement of Czech-German cooperation in the fields of research, technology development and innovation.

The key topics addressed by the conference are the advanced nanotechnologies, lightweight functional engineering materials, Industry 4.0, Mobility 4.0 and research infrastructures, with the main emphasis put on further enhancement of Czech-German collaboration in these areas. Discussions of attendees are arranged in the plenary sessions and 4 parallel scientific panels, attended by the leading Czech and German stakeholders.

“There is already a number of examples of outstanding R&D cooperation developed between Czech and German research organisations and innovative enterprises. The task of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, which is coordinating the Czech-German Strategy Dialogue in R&D, is to facilitate further enhancement of this collaboration by providing new opportunities. Therefore, we will continue in doing so and scientific conferences, like this one, are, without any doubt, one of the instruments, which are suitable for mediating networking with our German counterparts.”, said Deputy Minister Doleček.  

The main conference programme was accompanied also by site visits to some of the top-class research, technology development and innovation facilities that are operated by the Central European Institute of Technology, Brno University of Technology; Institute of Scientific Instruments of the Czech Academy of Sciences and TESCAN and Thermo Fisher Scientific companies, which focus on design, manufacturing and supply of electron microscopes and other scientific instrumentation to the worldwide users.
